UNTITLED STOP MOTION PICTURE

This short film is a suggestive representation of a certain struggle that I’ve had to identify personally. As the figure seen in the film is stuck in this room, he makes every possible attempt to exit that room. This figure tries every possible way to break out of this room, until he realizes that the door has been unlocked the entire time. It is not till he is at his lowest low that he comes to the realization that he can leave this room so simply, but has been avoiding the most obvious part of his journey the entire time. Once, he comes past this obstacle, he realizes how much brighter it is on the other side. This figure is a representation of me and my life, as I struggled to come out and identify myself as gay. I did every possible thing to avoid letting people know who I was. I then realized that it was as simple as opening a new door into an entire part of my life that I didn’t realize was there. It was then that I realized how much better it is on the other side. I made this film, not only to show my struggle to come out, but to let others now that it can be as simple as that. That although, it seems to be the most difficult thing to comes to terms with, you are gay and that isn’t your fault. We are born to love who we love and in order to let that be normal, we must all stand together and fight this common belief of heteronormativity. I am not here to make a change, I am here to show that change should have been made a long time ago.
